Sorry to hear about the loss of you 60's Silvertone lap steel...

Unfortunately, I have no pictures of my stolen Gibson "Rose" Dobro.  Its serial no. D2011510.  It has a brass body with roses etched onto its chrome skin.

Attached is a picture of my OMI "Rose" Dobro. It is almost identical.  Interestingly, it has a more muddy tone.

Those of you who remember Mason from the 80's and his tune Gypsy blood will be glad to know he is alive and kicking...and playing some of the best blues guitar i have heard in a while - I caught him last night in a place with about 30 people in it - man he still has it - fluid lines, gritty Texas tone - great vocals. If he comes to your area, absolutely check him out.

Myself - I am tired tired tired of the following - Mustang sally, the clapton version of crossroads, hideaway and most importantly - 5 versions of stormy monday at every show.... Just do a different T-Bone walker song - or do a lowell fulsom song...there must be 50 with a similar chord structure.....and we would all think you were cool for doing something obscure....I like to do "smokes like lightnin" by Lightnin Hopkins just to give the drummer fits Grin

Austin TX - Greg Izor, a great singer/harp player currently living in austin put on an awesome show with the help of Mike Keller on a cold saturday night in south austin tx last week...if you get a chance, check him out on myspace/facebook. Great vocal, great harp...a real traditional chicago sound with some swampy overtones. I am going to try and carry some of his CD's on Mojohand.com this year.

Grego

My condolences, I suffered the loss of an early 60's silvertone lap steel once....not a valuable instrument, but it had magic tone....never found another pickup like it Sad

Evangeline cafe - Austin TX

I am very lucky to live in a town with 1000's or great guitar players and musicians.
One of our best residents is Redd Volkaert, long time picker for Merle Haggard.
He brought his 4 piece band to the tiny cajun venue ( 80 people can fit in there )
and tore the roof off again with a great set...he slipped in a solo medley that had
everything from quotes of Stairway to heaven and Melissa by the Allmans without missing
a beat...2 hours, $5 cover....about 30 people showed up. Redd tours Europe a couple times a year
and brings his unbelievable telecaster skills with him....check him out online - he's all over youtube.
