Christone “Kingfish” Ingram: The Future of Blues

Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, born January 19, 1999, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, is a Grammy-winning blues guitarist and vocalist hailed as one of the most exciting young talents in the genre today. Raised in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, Ingram was immersed in blues from an early age, drawing inspiration from legends like B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix. His nickname, “Kingfish,” reflects both his musical prowess and his deep roots in the blues tradition.

Ingram began performing professionally as a teenager, quickly gaining recognition for his soulful voice and virtuosic guitar skills. His debut album, Kingfish (2019), produced by Grammy-winner Tom Hambridge, was met with critical acclaim and charted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart. His follow-up album, 662 (2021), named after the Mississippi Delta area code, earned him the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2022.

Beyond his recording success, Ingram has shared the stage with blues icons such as Buddy Guy and Eric Gales, and has performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide. In 2024, he launched Red Zero Records, a label aimed at supporting young blues artists and promoting authenticity in the genre. His third studio album, Hard Road, is set to release in September 2025 under Red Zero.

Christone “Kingfish” Ingram continues to bridge the gap between traditional blues and contemporary music, ensuring the genre’s evolution while honoring its rich legacy.
