What one of my customers had to say:
“I have 6 of Grego’s paintings and they really brighten up the mood of my house – all my friends love em!” – Ryan K. – Topeka

about Freddie King:

Freddie King was an American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, often referred to as the “Texas Cannonball”. Born on September 3, 1934, in Gilmer, Texas, King grew up in Dallas and began playing guitar at a young age. He was heavily influenced by blues legends such as T-Bone Walker and Lightnin’ Hopkins, and his style was characterized by his powerful voice, driving rhythms, and scorching guitar solos.

King began his professional career in the late 1950s, recording for the Federal Records label. His breakthrough hit came in 1961 with the instrumental track “Hide Away,” which became a top 40 hit and remains one of his signature songs. King went on to record a string of successful albums throughout the 1960s, including “Freddie King Is a Blues Master,” “Let’s Hide Away and Dance Away,” and “Burglar.”

King’s live performances were legendary, and he was known for his dynamic stage presence and fiery guitar playing. He toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, sharing stages with fellow blues icons such as B.B. King and Albert King. His influence on rock guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Stevie Ray Vaughan cannot be overstated.

Despite his success, King struggled with health problems throughout his life. He suffered from stomach ulcers, and his heavy drinking and smoking contributed to his declining health. King passed away on December 28, 1976, at the age of 42, due to heart failure. He left behind a rich musical legacy that continues to inspire and influence musicians to this day. King was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, cementing his place as one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time.
