Lightnin’ Hopkins (born Sam John Hopkins, 1912–1982) was a pioneering American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose raw, expressive style defined Texas blues. Known for his spontaneous storytelling, intricate fingerpicking, and smoky vocals, Hopkins recorded hundreds of songs across a career spanning five decades.
