Muddy Waters (born McKinley Morganfield, April 4, 1913 – April 30, 1983) was an American blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter widely regarded as the father of modern Chicago blues. Born in rural Mississippi, Waters brought the raw sound of Delta blues to Chicago, where he electrified it—literally—transforming the genre and shaping the future of rock and roll.
With classics like “Hoochie Coochie Man,” “Mannish Boy,” and “Got My Mojo Working,” Waters influenced generations of musicians, from The Rolling Stones to Eric Clapton.
