Born Aaron Thibeaux Walker on May 28, 1910, in Linden, Texas, T-Bone Walker was one of the first musicians to electrify the blues—literally and artistically. With his smooth vocals, sophisticated phrasing, and dazzling guitar work, he helped shape the sound of modern electric blues and laid the foundation for rock ’n’ roll. His 1947 classic “Call It Stormy Monday (But Tuesday Is Just as Bad)” became a timeless standard, covered by everyone from B.B. King to The Allman Brothers Band. Known for his showmanship—playing guitar behind his head or doing the splits on stage—Walker combined elegance and excitement like no one before him. His influence runs deep through generations of blues and rock guitarists.
